Custom fixture - no beam/light visible in 3D

  • Hi all,

Just wondering, i created a custom fixture for a GLX LED PAR56...its working...colours / dimming / everything works as it should...repatched the stuff also in my 3d show - the PAR cans are visible how ever - the PAR models arent rendering any light beam from it (got the PAR's physically next to me - the light works)...

Anyone familiar with this? Changed the model in MA3Ddot2 already to LEDpar56short etc. also tried other fixture types, nothing visible. Probably doing something minor wrong - would be nice if someone knows how to fix this...thanks! :)

edit: when i strobe - the beam becomes visible in MA3d (as full beam - not with the strobe effect).....when releases (flash but)...beam dissapears again...

  • Change the fixture type in Fixture Builder to Conventional instead of LED.

Thanks for the suggestions :) Tried that already - both tried it with LED and Conv paramters - as well as changing ofc in MA3D the fixture type...no success...

  • Check your Render settings to see if the 'Beam' is actually visible. There are a few settings and they affect how accurate the beam is to no beam at all. The stock LED par type fixtures do have the Beam subattribute, so it must be in your render settings or profile.

To get a beam to render the object needs the profile functionset to access the DIM subattribute of the actual attribute. Sub attributes are what render in MA3D.

To troubleshoot a profile without even being able to view it...??? That is nearly impossible, imho.

True :) i know about those subattributes and checked DIM/BEAM and so on...the fun part is i can test it tho - both using the physical light next to me steering via DMX/sacn and watching it at the same time in 3D ....in real life the light is working perfect ... only not in MA3D so its more difficult to pre-program.

Will check those sub attributed again however....perhaps i missed something....

  • fixed it - was conflict between 2 channels and wrong top-selection of profile - got the dimming / rendering now ok - have to fix the strobe 'attributes' now - but im getting there! :) thnx for the help.
