unblocking cues when updating or editing cues

Wonder if you can help me, I own an ma dot2, I programme lots of musicals on it which takes a lot of cues, I'm finding now that if I have 100+ cues which is normal for a musical, when I update a cue the desk will update I get a bar on my screens while the desk unlocks the cues, I'm finding if im in a cue where I have effects running etc the desk stops running these effects while this unblocking takes place and then it carries on when its finished, this can be extremely frustrating if you want to make a subtle change during a tech run etc, is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
