grandMA 1.8.8.2 onPC and on the console: Cannot make any changes to views. Always get an "Object locked" error. Logged in as Admin. Didn't lock anything. Any idea? Show file broken? unlock screencommand didn't help.

does the view have a lock symbol in the view pool? If so, the view is locked. you can unlock it by unlock view x or rightclick inside the viewpool on the view and in the statusbar disable lock.
-
I tried all of that. Doesn't unlock. This is a disaster. Did I run into a software bug? I attached the show file.
-
at least this file seems to be corrupt....I send a PM
-
Hello there is a problem with your user profile. U can allso fix this problem by going to another showfile and export the default user profile out of that one and import it to your broken showfile.
-
This is not a bug or a corrupt show file or a corrupt user profile. Looks like you simply locked your UserProfile. Simply type: "Unlock UserProfile 1" or go to Menu -> Settings -> User Configuration -> Profiles, and toggle the "Lock" column so that it says 'S' instead of 'Yes'.
-
Man! Thanks!
-
It looks like typing 'Lock' and then pressing enter locks the UserProfile, which is wrong in my opinion. If anything I would expect it to lock the Selected Sequence. This has been reported.
-
Thanks for the follow-up. That could be what happened to me. I was connecting via a Web Remote and might have changed from Remote to Admin via login admin. Is lo perhaps a shortcut for lock? That would be even worse.
-
lo is the shortcut for lock
...shortcut for login is log; Logout is logo

I think MA should urgently change this. Locking myself out with a two letter command should at least prompt an "Are you sure?"

In my opinion that is addressing the symptom, not the underlying problem. The problem is that the "Lock" keyword defaults to your UserProfile when you don't specify another object, rather than defaulting to either nothing or the selected sequence. I don't want a confirmation prompt with every lock command.
-
Would be fine to change...but just be careful anyway...in MA2 it was loc for lock, log for login and logo for logot

Fair enough! I don't report this to MA support separately, correct?
-
Up to you.
In general I would recommend reporting any issues you find or feature requests you have to your local distributor.
-
I read "local distributor". Since I'm in Germany, that would likely be Lightpower. They did sell me the console, nodes and viz-key. But I usually write to the MA guys directly, since they are in Germany, too. (And have always been super responsive!)
-
(MA International software support and Lightpower software support are essentially one and the same)
-
I've sent the following suggestion to the folks there:
I would suggest to think about the following changes:
- lock without any object should never lock the current user. Instead it could lock the current Sequence, Cue, Preset or any object except for the current user.
- Locking users should always require an explicit lock command.
- Either remove the lo shortcut completely or at least require the long version for locking users specifically.
-
To be clear, the problem is not locking the user - the problem is locking the userprofile.
