If 1.7 then this version has a new feature to color-pick also fixtures with color-wheels. The release notes state though, that if the fixture with color-wheel is the last one in the line, this function might not work...

Maybe that is the case with your file? They suggest adding a 'noob' fixture as last one. (v1.7 Release-notes p. 30)
