Problem with prism

  • Hi

I have a bunch our Martin MH-7’s patched and when creating presets for prism i am having issues

Usually I create a preset just containing the prism 4 and 8 way then another which controls a couple of rotate speeds and a stop.’

This works great on the MA2

What’s is happing is in the rotate speed attribute when I select the third group which is rotate speed (opposed to index etc)

It drops in the prism and gives it as value. If you off the prism it kills the rotate. If you record it with the prism not selected it still includes the values in the preset as it seems to be somehow linked. I have made sure i am in single not linked feature.

My work around has been to create a bunch of presets with all the info which is fine but not my ideal setup

Not sure if I am am doing something wrong or if this is a bug.

    Hope this makes sense.

  • On the Rush MH 7 Hybrid from the MA2 Library Effect Wheel and Effect Index Rotate are linked via Master Mode in the fixture profile. So in order to store Prism and Index/speed separately you can do one of a few things:

    1) Use the At Filter before storing and only select the parameter you want to store.

    2) Before storing the preset use the Off and tap the parameter you don't want to store.

    3) You probably don't want to do this, you could edit the fixture profile removing the link between the two paramiters. Probably not a good idea unless you have a real compelling reason.

Edit: Having said all of that, and after trying it, make sure you select the correct Channel Set for the rotation type you want to use. For example if you want to store 4 way rotation make sure both E and Effect <> are stored using the third Channel Set:

Below 1 and 2 work together to select a prism(1) and index(2), and 4, 5 and 6 work together select prism(4) and rotate speed/direction(5+6). If you try and use 1 and 5 and 4 and 2 you end up with an index.

That way you need to store a prism for index and rotation then different speeds and indexes
