How many Monitors for onPC Solution?

  • Hi,

i'm not really familiar with MA3 (even with MA) for now. But I'm learning and planing (in the meantime) to build my own MA3 Wing onPC-Desk.

But what would be the suggestions from the 'Pros': Is it better for programming to use two smaller Monitors (I'm thinking about 2x19" TouchScreens 90° rotated) or might it be better to have one big Monitor (a 27" Touch-Display with 2560x1440 Pixel is what i have in mind - what is about the size of two 19" Screens with 90° Rotation)? :/

  • Yes. Thats an idea. But two 19“ horizontally is to much for my case. 62cm is the maximum in width (thats important for my complete DJ-Setup). And two 19“ vertically mounted fits good.

But is it better for programming to have two screens (vertically) or is one screen with two windows on it a better way to handle MA3? ?

Or is it not important to think about that?

  • Yes. Thats an idea. But two 19“ horizontally is to much for my case.

    I figured you had a reason :)

I'm thinking you would like Window 1 and 2 available side by side.
On the 27" it could be like in the attachment. A bit crammed in the playback and encoder bar but probably useable.

Assuming the 19" screens are 1920x1080 you get 1080pixels width so even less pr window.

Maybe it's possible to remove the playbacks you don't need from the view? I don't know.

  • Oh, i really decided to take a 27" one. But with a higher Resolution (2560x1440 - 4K with touch is not available at present).

26" fits better, but there is nothing available in that format. The 27" one is 66cm in width and the Wing is 62cm. So these are "only" 4cm more for me..

It didn't reach me yet, but i hope it will work (and look) good (still got no Wing yet...).

The reason why i decided that way is that i can have several windows opened and i can adjust them in that way, that the encoder function is right above the corresponding encoder (or maybe if i find it more important later the Playback is above the corresponding fader or knob...) like it is at the real hardware consoles.

So now anybody can read this and hopefully it helps someone else to get "her/his" perfect onPC-Solution!

jpsound: Thanks a lot for your pictures! Maybe i can include a 7" one in the future, too...

  • Due to very strange Amazon Sellers I switched over to a 28" with 4K and Multitouch. Thats really big and a lot of Workspace!!

AsI am now waiting for my wing you can call me 'monitor-man... :) But only two of them are with touch functionality.

    Ma3 onPC like XT

    2x19" = 1x7" all touchscreens

    Very Interesting... :D

what resolution does the 7 inch monitor have?

  • 7" Monitors are having really 'bad' resolutions normally (1024x600 or sth. like that). But that doesn't matter in real. Because they 'eat' a lot very often! So You can give them FullHD and everything can be seen well! I have two 7" from Faytech in use for many years now and they satisfy all my needs. Maybe i take such screens for MA3 to if there are some needs...

But there are some newer ones available who seem to be good to!

  • Yes, most of them have a native resolution of 1024x600 pix. But as you can feed them with uo to 1920x1080 (FHD), they will fullfill your needs. Trust me, i tested that out. The monitor is that small, that You can see everything good (even MA-Tricks) even if there are so few pixels. As far as i know there are no 7" monitors who have much more than 1024x600 Pixels as the native resolution. Maybe you can find one with 1280x960, but i've never seen that and it won't be really better.

Use your calculator, your brain and the sentence of Pythagoras to see how many pixels you have on a 1920x1080 22" Monitor per cm and then on a 1024x600 7" Monitor. At present i am really to lazy to caluclate that... :) But i know that in the result you will see, that the small monitor is sharp enough to fullfill your needs!

    Even i experimented a lot with a 4K 28" Touch Monitor vs a 27" 1920x1080 Monitor. But that is another story... ;)

  • I am using 2 x 13.3 inch Elo 1302L 1920x1080 since i tried to make my package as compact as possible. However, I must admit that the screens could be a bit larger in order to properly read the executor section.
