Well, it's a reported complaint now! But I think you might be talking to the void. 8o Right now it works exactly like MA2, where if you start a new show and go into patch, you're presented with a popup to add some fixtures.

The assumption is that the majority of shows where one is starting from scratch won't be importing an MVR file, but rather will be patching normally. For those shows (especially when they're being programmed by newer users who may not be as familiar with patch, and in such cases are even less likely to already have an MVR file), the goal is to have an easier user experience, thus being automatically presented with a way to add some fixtures immediately when you open an empty patch.

And because this only happens when your patch is empty (a max of once per show, and possibly not even then depending on what's in your start show), I don't think there's really a point in making it a user option or something. Especially because most of the time when people jump into patch the first time they're doing so from the default userprofile.

I'm happy to listen to a compelling argument for it to work the other way around though. :)

Of course, you're right, in MA2 there is the pop-up prompting one to create a new layer.. I guess its just getting used to the different interface in MA3.

Guess i'll grumble into the void for now.

.. on a side note, this forum needs more exciting post reaction emojis! Thumbs Up & Thumbs Down leave so much room for interpretation.
